Here are my creations. I made them by covering a toilet paper roll with paper that I first embossed with a woodgrain textured impressions embossing folder and then smeared ink over so the raised impressions were darker. The heart is (of course) the large Michael Strong heart stamp. I embossed the heart with clear embossing powder on white paper. After it was dry I used Tim Holtz distress stains to colour the one heart pink and the other heart red. I will fill one of the trees with candy hearts and the other with chocolate and give them to the kids on Valentine's Day. My daughter will love all the details (see the braid?), my son will just eat the chocolate.
The first one is to my daughter. She's big into the Hunger Games so the one owl has on a baker's apron and is carrying a loaf of bread (note how it is burned) to throw to his love Katniss who is ignoring him since she is hunting with her bow.
My other one is for my son. His true love is hockey so his owl has a puck, hockey stick and a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey. The owl is a leftie just like him.
Here is a close up of the hearts:
These turned out so cute that now I can't wait for Valentine's Day! I remember a few years ago I had to give things I had made to the kids early because I was too excited! I'm older now though. Hope you enjoyed seeing the treat boxes and hope I inspired you to make something for someone you love!
Remember to make a comment on ALL the blogs for the chance to win the owl stamp set!
